This retailer was beginning to set their next set of long-term sustainability goals and needed to conduct a materiality analysis to gauge which environmental issues the company should continue to focus on, which new green business emerging issues it should add to its set of goals, and what external expectations are for the future of the company';s corporate sustainability program.

Sustainable Business Consulting engaged internal and external stakeholders to help guide the company’s sustainability goal-setting initiative by:
- Conducting stakeholder interviews and adding sustainability questions to existing external surveys for corporate sustainability reporting
- Benchmarking against green business industry peers on environmental issues and long term sustainability goals
- Facilitating a goals and visioning session informed by sustainability industry research and stakeholder feedback

The retailer was able to develop and publicly share its second set of long-term sustainability goals that aligned with its business strategy and top stakeholder concerns, as well as supporting green business metrics, accountability, and methods for tracking corporate responsibility progress that would enhance its sustainability position among peers and competitors.
