Project: Non-Profit
ESG STRATEGY
- Implementing sustainable policies to foster behavior change
-
This non-profit had identified the need to cut office supply costs and better align its purchasing with its sustainability mission and vision, but was seeing no improvement due to barriers in changing the habits and mindset of their staff.
-
Sustainable Business Consulting worked with the non-profit to help facilitate sustainable behavior change by:
- Uncovering sustainable cost saving opportunities through more efficient purchasing to make the green business case for cost savings
- Identifying opportunities to embed local and sustainable purchasing criteria into RFPs, contracts, and supplier screening requirements to formally integrate sustainability into decision-making processes
- Train employees in the new sustainable purchasing practices to remove any fear of change and address any concerns
-
Barriers to sustainable adoption were identified and removed and the company realized over $300,000 in immediate savings just by changing how often and how it ordered supplies. It also received improved RFP scores with a variety of its customers.
