Analysis to determine the top material CSR metrics for executive decision making

This retailer wanted to add sustainability metrics and KPIs into executive leadership decisions, but needed to determine which corporate sustainability metrics were the most material to both the company and its key stakeholders.

SBC worked with a cross-functional team to identify and rank material aspects for decision making by:
- Conducting a materiality assessment on social and environmental issues
- Developing a North Star Vision and Sustainability Goals
- Benchmarking their sustainability initiatives against peers and Newsweek Green Rankings
- Identifying green business metrics aligned with business and CSR efforts

The retailer embedded the recommended sustainability goals, metrics, and KPIs into monthly executive decision-making and reporting structures as well as their Master Sustainability Plan, formalizing sustainability and institutionalizing new green business habits across all reporting structures.
